All residents will have the opportunity to participate in a town-wide yard / garage sale on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Rain or Shine! Applications are $5.00 and are available at the Borough office. Residents who register will be listed on a map and will be supplied with balloons to let buyers know they are participating in this sale.

Girls in sixth grade up through adults will learn to design and sew in this seven week program. Classes will start the week of June 27, and will be held at the Avon Elementary School. Students will register for either the Monday 9:00-11:30 a.m. class or the Friday 6:00-8:30 p.m. class. The program will conclude with the girls / ladies modeling their work on Monday, August 22nd at our fashion show. Registration fee is $40 plus the cost of materials, as required (maximum nine students per class). Sewing machines will be provided.

Girls!!! If you love the show “Project Runway” then this is the class for you. Students will be given a challenge each day, and will be designing and sewing a project. Each project will be judged during the August 22 fashion show. Winners will be announced, and prizes will be awarded for each challenge. Project Fashion will be held August 15-19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Avon School. Registration fee is $75 and includes all materials. Class is limited to ten students.

The Neptune City Board of Recreation is once again inviting children of Avon (between 5 and 12 years old) to participate in their annual summer camp program. It runs from June 27th through August 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program will utilize Adam’s Field, Memorial Park and the Community Center. Activities will include games, arts and crafts, sports and field trips. A snack will be provided each day in the a.m. session. Choice of a full day program or choose either the AM or PM session. Contest will be held at the Norwood Avenue Beach on Saturday, August 6th from 9:00–10:30 a.m. (rain date August 7th). The contest is open to all ages and there is no fee! Sign-ups will be the day of the contest outside the Avon Boardwalk Pavilion from 8:30-9:00 a.m. Contest age groups are 7 and under, 8-11, 12-16, and 17 and up. Each group may have five people maximum. Spray paint, toxic materials, and plastic molds are prohibited. Ribbons will be given out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Dance classes return to Avon. Frank Young, a professional dancer and instructor will teach classes for ALL AGES. Fee is $10 per participant per class; singles and couples welcome. One hour practice session will be held after classes at $5 per participant. Classes are scheduled on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Residents, visitors, friends and neighbors, please join us for this year’s Family Night Out. This annual fundraiser will be held on Thursday, August 18th at The Norwood in Avon. There will be a 50/50 raffle, an outdoor cookout, and plenty of fun for all. Families of all sizes and ages are invited to attend. Wristbands will be sold at the door. We appreciate your support, and look forward to celebrating summer with you!

A life of leisure begins at home for area seniors who meet Wednesday afternoons in the Avon municipal gym for good company, refreshments and plenty of fun. The group is open to both men and women, and meets at 12 noon weekly. Avon residency is not required. Join in on Bingo, Rummikub, Bridge, Poker or a game of your choice. We are full of surprises and lots of fun.

A 6-week after school program for Grades K through 8. Classes are scheduled on Monday, November 14, 21 and 28 and December 5, 12 and 19 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Avon Elementary School. Registration fee is $60 and there is a 25 student maximum.

Dates & Times TBD; in the Municipal Building. All residents are invited to enjoy refreshments and costume and pumpkin carving contests. Bring your carved pumpkin to the Municipal Building by 5:00 p.m. on 10/31 for judging at the party (battery operated candles only, no exceptions).

Sunday, December 4th – Puppet Show in the Municipal Gym at 4:00 pm, tree lighting on the front lawn at 5:00 p.m. and a festive reception with hayrides, food, music and a host of fun activities.

Monday, December 12th at 5:00 p.m. – get out those decorations and get busy!
