Avon Recreation Department provides recreation
services for the children of the Borough
of Avon, as well as Avon Elementary School
tuition students. Some of the activities
include soccer leagues in the fall, basketball
leagues in the winter, baseball and softball
leagues in the spring, and Tennis lessons,
Surf Camp, and Sewing Class in the summer. |

department also runs the Leisure Citizens,
and organizes the annual Golf Outing, Raft
Race, Halloween Party, after school Art
Program, and Holiday Tree Lighting event. |

will be held at the Avon Municipal Gym Conference
room on the following dates for ALL recreation

of Residency Policy: Avon Recreation
reserves the right to request proof of residency
at the time of registration. Please have
available an Avon tax bill, water/sewer
bill or lease along with your driver's license
when signing up for summer activities. |

| Refund
Policy: There are no cash refunds
or credits issued for recreation activities. |
The
Avon Recreation Department needs volunteers
for
help with event set-up / clean-up.

| Avon
Town Wide Garage Sale |
| |
All residents will have the opportunity
to participate in a town-wide yard
/ garage sale. Applications are
$5.00 and are available at the Borough
office. Residents who register will
be listed on a map and will be supplied
with balloons to let buyers know
they are participating in this sale. |

| Dress
Design/Sewing Class |
| |
Girls in sixth grade up through
adults will learn to design and
sew in this seven week program.
Classes will be held at the Avon
Elementary School. Students can
register for either the Monday or
the Friday class. The program will
conclude with the girls / ladies
modeling their work on at the annual
fashion show. Registration fee is
$40 plus the cost of materials,
as required (maximum nine students
per class). Sewing machines will
be provided.

| Project
Fashion |
| |
Girls!!!
If you love the show “Project
Runway” then this is the class
for you. Students will be given
a challenge each day, and will be
designing and sewing a project.
Each project will be judged during
the fashion show. Winners will be
announced, and prizes will be awarded
for each challenge. Project Fashion
will be held at the Avon School.
Registration fee is $75 and includes
all materials. Class is limited
to ten students.

| Summer
Camp Recreation Program |
| |
The
Neptune City Board of Recreation
is once again inviting children
of Avon (between 5 and 12 years
old) to participate in their annual
summer camp program. The program
will utilize Adam’s Field,
Memorial Park and the Community
Center. Activities will include
games, arts and crafts, sports and
field trips. A snack will be provided
each day in the a.m. session. Choice
of a full day program or choose
either the AM or PM session. For

| Sand
Castle Contest |
| |
Contest
will be held at the Norwood Avenue
Beach. The contest is open to all
ages and there is no fee! Sign-ups
will be the day of the contest outside
the Avon Boardwalk Pavilion from
8:30-9:00 a.m. Contest age groups
are 7 and under, 8-11, 12-16, and
17 and up. Each group may have five
people maximum. Spray paint, toxic
materials, and plastic molds are
prohibited. Ribbons will be given
out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. |

| Swing,
Latin, & Ballroom Dance Classes |

Frank
Young, a professional dancer and
instructor will teach classes for
youth (Grades 5 and up) and adults.
Fee is $10 per participant per class;
singles and couples welcome. Classes
are scheduled on Monday evenings
in three, 4 once weekly sessions.

Night Out/Fundraiser |

Last
year’s event was such a hit
with residents, so we’ve decided
to do it again. This year’s
Family Night Out will be held at
The Norwood in Avon. There will
be a 50/50 raffle, an outdoor cookout,
and plenty of fun for all. Families
of all sizes and ages are invited
to attend. Tickets will be sold
in advance and at the door. We look
forward to celebrating summer with
you! |

Fashion Workshop |

Halloween party will be held in
the Municipal Building. All residents
are invited to enjoy refreshments
and costume and pumpkin carving
contests. Bring your carved pumpkin
to the Municipal Building for judging

only, no exceptions). The Recreation
Department is seeking Halloween
decoration donations. |
