| The
Avon Recreation Department provides recreation
services for the children of the Borough
of Avon, as well as Avon Elementary School
tuition students. Some of the activities
include soccer leagues in the fall, basketball
leagues in the winter, baseball and softball
leagues in the spring, and Tennis lessons,
Surf Camp, and Sewing Class in the summer. |

department also runs the Leisure Citizens,
and organizes the annual Golf Outing, Raft
Race, Halloween Party, after school Art
Program, and Holiday Tree Lighting event. |

will be held at the Avon Municipal Gym Conference
room on the following dates for ALL recreation

of Residency Policy: Avon Recreation
reserves the right to request proof of residency
at the time of registration. Please have
available an Avon tax bill, water/sewer
bill or lease along with your driver's license
when signing up for summer activities. |

Policy: There are no cash refunds
or credits issued for recreation activities. |

Day Kids Fun Run |
| |
Children ages 2–10 will have
a fun run at Norwood and Ocean Avenues.

Race day registration will be held
5:30 – 6:00 p.m. Entry fee
is $10 thru May 1 and $12 after
May 1. This event is sponsored by

Day 5K Race |
| |
The 15th Annual Avon 5K Run / Walk
benefits the Avon First Aid and
Safety Squad. Register online at
www.jerseyrunner.com or pick up
a form at the Avon Borough office.
Early number and shirt pickup at
the Avon First Aid building located
at 520 Main Street, from 5-7pm on
June 2 and 3. Late registration
/ shirt pickup at the Avon Pavilion
located at Ocean and Norwood Avenues,
June 4 from 6-8pm and June 5 from
7-8:30am. For additional information

Lessons |

Tennis
courts are located at the Jefferson
and South Station Avenues. Courts
will be utilized on a first come,
first served hourly basis. Signs
will be posted at the courts outlining
general usage and availability.
Please contact the Recreation Department
prior to start of season, if reservations
are required for tournament court
time.

Surf Camp |
| |
Children
will be taught the basic techniques
of surfing, along with proper safety
rules. |

sessions (conditions permitting) will
be held at the Woodland Avenue Beach.
The registration fee is $50.00 per
child and includes lessons, games,
a surf camp T-shirt and a bagel party
on Friday. |

of Belmar Harbor (FOBH) will conduct

Sailing program starting on March

2009 Great Ocean Raft Race winning
team, The Silent Warriors, is looking
for some intense competition this
year. Please note that all participants
must be at least 15 years old. Entries
must be received by July 26!

Clinics
for kindergarten and first grade
will begin on Saturday, September
11. Our last scheduled clinic is
Saturday, October 30. All clinics
are 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Avon
field. Cleats and shin guards are
recommended, but not required. |

| Division
II (Grades 2-4) and Division I (Grades
5-8) games begin in mid-September.
Division I and II players will be
contacted in mid-August regarding
team rosters and coaches. Registration
fee is $35 per child. Volunteer coaches
are needed. |
