Avon Recreation Department
The Avon Recreation Department provides recreation services for the children of the Borough of Avon-by-the-Sea, as well as Avon Elementary School tuition students. Some of the activities include soccer leagues in the fall, basketball leagues in the winter, baseball and softball leagues in the spring, and a variety of beach and pool activities in the summer. The department also runs the Leisure Citizens, Halloween Party and Holiday Tree Lighting event.
Proof of Residency Policy: Avon Recreation reserves the right to request proof of residency at the time of registration. Please have available an Avon tax bill, water/sewer bill or lease along with your driver's license when signing up for summer activities. All checks should be made payable to ARC.
Refund Policy: There are no cash refunds or credits issued for recreation activities.

Boardwalk & Beach Events
Avon Recreation is excited to kick off the warmer weather with the annual Town Wide Garage Sale, along with a host of exciting summer activities!
The Avon Town Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 11th from 10am - 3pm (rain or shine). If you would like to participate in the sale, please register your garage at the Avon Borough office to be included on a Map handout. Garage Sale applications are $5.
Recreation Sign-ups – For Swim Team, Water Ballet, and Surf camp all registrations are via online: Avon by the Sea - Parks & Rec (basgov.com)
Please note there is a separate form for Junior Lifeguards. Please make every attempt to register online. For support we will be offering an in-person registration on May 6th from 6-8pm in the Avon Municipal Building. Completed registration forms can be dropped off or mailed with payment (one check payable to ARC) to the Avon Borough Office (301 Main Street Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ). All summer registrations are due June 7, 2024 (with the exception of Junior Lifeguards).

Swim Team ($65 per child) Pool members only - badge requiredWe are excited to get the Avon Gators back in the water! Registration is limited to swimmers in grades K – 8. All swimmers must be able to swim at least one pool length. Practices will start Monday, June 17. Practices are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday as follows: ages 8 & under from 5-6pm and ages 9 & up from 6-7pm. The first swim meet is scheduled for the first week of July. Swim Team is a great place for the children to learn the next level of swimming and help to build their confidence and strength in the water. We have hired 2 lead coaches this year with plenty of experience and have added a lifeguard who will be present for all practices.

Water Ballet ($45 per child) Pool members only - badge required2024 Info:
Everyone is already talking about the show! Water Ballet practices will begin on Monday, July 1st. Practice times will vary depending on age. The show is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7th, with a rain date of August 8th. Dress rehearsal will be Sunday, August 4th from 5:30 - 7pm.
Practice times are as follows (reminder it is predicated on your daughters Fall 2024 grade):

Pool Membership is open to residents and non-residents of the Borough of Avon-by-the-Sea. Non-resident pool members must be sponsored by a resident of the Borough of Avon-by-the-Sea.

Summer Leisure Citizens Pool Aerobics
2024 info:
Water aerobics is back! Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 - 1:00 pm this summer in the Avon Pool. Aerobics will be starting July 16th and run until August 22nd. Participants must have a season pool badge or be a sponsored guest.
Surf Camp ($50 Per child)

*Must be Avon Resident or Avon Tuition Student to Register*
Surf Camp is scheduled for the week of July 1st-5th from 8-10am. Depending on the number of surfers, ages 8-10 will surf M/W/F and ages 11 & up will surf T/TH/F. Children must be minimum of 8 years old to participate. Check out the schedule below:

B.A.L.C. FALL SOCCER - BELMAR AVON LAKE COMO FALL SOCCER ($50 per child)***2023 Info***
B.A.L.C. Soccer is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Teams will be picked, and coaches will schedule practices. Season will start in September. Please see our division break down below:

Recreation Basketball
2024-2025 Season
Avon-By-The-Sea Recreation is bringing back the same format as prior years for basketball with clinic play for K-2nd grade and 3rd-8th grade players will have practice once weekly and games on Saturdays. Games will be scheduled with the Recreation Departments from SL,SLH and SG.
Schedule
1. Sign ups are open now through November 15th
2. Practices are starting Saturday, Nov 16th
3. Games will start Jan 4th and run through the first week of March
4. Recreation will host scrimmages in December
5. Clinic for children in grades K-2 will start November 16th
